photographs on these pages, taken in 1981 and 1982, show some of the
early restoration work. Two lock chambers and a half mile section of
the canal were restored by volunteers from the Huddersfield Canal Society.

Twelve
miles to the west of Huddersfield is the flight of locks between
Dobcross and Diggle in Saddleworth. This milestone is situated alongside
lock 26W.

of the treatment applied to the locks, presumably to reduce maintenance
costs and to make them safe.
