Profile

John is an active member and currently president of Oldham Photographic Society. After a brief period working with slides, John’s interest turned to prints and after several years of darkroom printing in both monochrome and colour he now prints digitally. The photographs on this site are from slides or negatives or from a digital SLR. Most recent work has been on panoramas. John currently holds the Credit award of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (CPAGB).

Exhibitions

“Exploring the intriguing subject of time”, the Time Lords Exhibition was held jointly with Gallery Oldham and included work by seven other members of Oldham Photographic Society. Whilst this was not a serious competition, John’s print “Sun Dial” was voted favourite by the visiting public. There's no accounting for taste!

Sun Dial

In 2003, along with other members of SLIC, John exhibited work at the Octagon Bolton and at Bury Met. He took part in the Oldham Panoramas Exhibition at Gallery Oldham (one of John’s panoramas being used for the poster) and had work exhibited in the Oldham Open Art exhibition. John also exhibited work in the "Circles of Confusion" Exhibition at the Saddleworth Museum Art Gallery in 2004.

Publicity

The Oldham Panoramas Exhibition was well received by the press with a double page spread in Manchester’s “City Life” magazine. John was a featured photographer along with other Oldham PS members in Photography Monthly magazine. John has also licensed photographs for commercial use.
